Jomon Pot
This piece was made for my ceramics capstone project and is modeled after ancient Japanese pottery from the Jomon period. The Jomon period started in about 10,500 and ended in 300 BC. This pottery is known for its rope-like patterns and was used for many purposes such as cooking, storage, and ceremonial burials. With this project, I modernized the piece with bold black carved lines and bright primary colors but stuck to the traditional coil-building techniques.
